– Community communications go beyond blogs and social media shares, how does a PLN help and hinder the development of thoughts and ideas in discourse?
Community communication can sometimes be more efficient than blogs and social media, but it can also slow down the spread of information. It’s up to us to get the message out to the right community. In fact, each community has its own theme. If a post about celebrity gossip is published in the educational community, the information will spread slowly, because the people in the educational community will not be interested in celebrity gossip. Similarly, if the right information is delivered to an active community, it will spread quickly.
– How does the use of PLN raise awareness opportunities?
PLN can raise awareness opportunities. We can get information and knowledge from many different sources, and PLN is a great way to do that. An active community with many people involved in the discussion gives us more opportunities to learn from other people’s ideas. Different people see things in different ways, which allows us to see things from multiple perspectives. So it can raise awareness opportunities.
– What is the role of social media in education – whether it be classroom or community discourse?
In fact, social media has been a great help in education. First of all, communication between students is essential in education. In group work, communication among students can effectively improve students’ communication skills and leadership. It is also important to communicate with teachers through social media, which allows students to ask timely questions. At the same time, many teaching resources are shared with students through social media. So social media plays an important role in education.
– What are some problems or risks to consider with social media communications when discussing topics that may be uncomfortable but reflect needed change?
Discussing uncomfortable topics on social media is always risky. First of all, our ideas will not be accepted by everyone, so we need to express our points of view with mild words, so as not to quarrel with others. Secondly, when we express our own opinions, we should not make comments that are harmful to the society. The Internet has a memory, and our every word leaves a mark on social media. Some wrong remarks may affect our future.
